Video Educators of New England

Video Educators of New England (VENE) is a group of educational professionals representing institutions located throughout the New England region. Our educators share a commitment to provide instruction for students interested in using video as a medium for instruction, entertainment, and information sharing.

VENE was conceived in 1997, in order to form a platform for Video Educators to convene for panel discussions on course curriculum and relevant subject matter concerning the video community. The idea developed out of discussions by Jan Haughey a Sales Executive for a major audio-visual integrator, Arthur “Art” Collins the Chief Engineer of Broadcasting Telecommunications at Mt. Wachusett Community College, and Dr. Vincent Ialenti the Director of Telecommunications & Distance Learning at Mt. Wachusett Community College. Ms. Haughey’s sales interaction with many of the same individuals that had educational relationships with Mt. Wachusett, launched discussions about the needs expressed by video educators to have a place to meet and discuss current topics of interest. Ms. Haughey had attended many regional conferences developed for the educational community, but none of these were specifically mindful of the needs of video educators.

The original VENE format called for holding an annual conference with guest presenters and leading visionaries from some of the most highly recognized manufacturing names in the video industry. Today, the organization’s potential is just being realized. Formalized membership, newsletters, local and regional conferences, and an interactive web site, are just a few of the resources available to members.
